About Us

At Temple Israel, we are one extended family.

Temple Israel is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year serving the local Jewish community. As New London became a vacation destination for Jews from Hartford, CT and Springfield, MA, in the early 1900’s the shul was incorporated in 1924 as an orthodox synagogue to cater to these summer residents in the Neptune Park section of New London.

The Shul has maintained an active congregation never missing a single season. With the 100th anniversary celebrations in mind the Shul has undergone major renovations.

New London is a beach community located in southeastern Connecticut. The population is ~28,000 with ~ 4000 Jewish residents.
